Secure Your Passwords Using Proton Pass's New Features

Proton Pass, made by the creators of Proton Mail, is a password manager focused on security. It encrypts your logins, credit cards, and notes, keeping them private, even from Proton.

Proton Pass added two new features to make your passwords even safer. The first is called Secure Links. This allows you to share passwords, bank details, or other sensitive info stored in Proton Pass with anyone, even if they don't use Proton Pass. 

You create special links that expire, giving access to the shared item while keeping everything encrypted. You control how long the link lasts and how many times it can be viewed for extra security. The second feature is called Extra Password. 

This optional step adds another barrier to access your passwords. With Extra Password turned on, you'll need both your regular Proton account password and this extra password to open your vault. 

This is a good way to add extra protection if your main password is compromised.

How to use Secure Links

This feature lets you share passwords or other sensitive information securely. Here's how to use it:

1. Access Proton Pass: Open the Proton Pass browser extension or mobile app.
2. Choose the item to share: Find the login details, note, or other data you want to share.
3. Initiate secure link sharing: In order to create your secure link, just click the Share icon and click "Via Link", your sharing link will be created which can be modified later.
   
4. Set link expiration (optional): Links expire in 7 days by default, but you can change this from 1 hour to 30 days.
5. Restrict views (optional): You can limit how many times the link can be accessed using the "Restrict number of views" option.
6. Generate the link: The Generate Secure Link button will automatically create a exclusive and secure link for you which you can share to anyone.
   
7. Share the link: Copy and paste the link to the person you want to give access to.

How to use Extra Password Feature

This feature provides an additional layer of security for your Proton Pass vault. Here's how to enable it:

• Open Proton Pass settings: Locate the settings menu within the Proton Pass app or browser extension.
• Navigate to Security: Look for a section titled "Security" or similar.
• Enable Extra Password: Find the option for "Extra password" and activate it.
• Create an extra password: Set a strong, unique password specifically for accessing your Proton Pass vault.
